Running in the Algarve - suggestions?

Heading to the Algrave for a week in October to hopefully do some decent training in nice weather and away from the time-sapping pressures of work. Have a flight booked but no accommodation as yet.

Has anyone ever done some running down there? I'm easy about where to go just so long as there's some decent roads for running on around the town. Not a fan of running on a beach.
    Thanks

Monte Gordo is a popular spot for warm weather training, decent enough trails, and a track also.

The Vasco de Gama hotel in Monte Gordo is popular with runners. They have a half board option where you get breakfast and dinner. Although not quite haute cuisine and possibly becoming a bit boring, it is very reasonably priced if you are on a budget. The stadium and track at Villa Real de Santo Antonio is fairly close and you should have a go at that. Only a few euro to use the facilities for a day. That's the place that several Olympic teams and county football and hurling teams go to.

Was in Lagos last year and pretty much covered the whole area over the course of 2 weeks....nice long promenade and a few challenging hills around too.

It was fairly windy as well most of the time so added to the workout (and the tan!).

if your near vilamoura, there is a tarmac running route up the central reservation of rua de meirelis complete with water fountains and exercise areas, its about 3/4 miles long.
