Spotted this in the Irish Examiner today.

Irish Examiner and Fota Island Resort have teamed up to offer golf societies nationwide the chance to participate in the Irish Examiner Inter-Society Golf Trophy. The top teams from each round will move forward with the final competition on Friday, November 9th.
Closing Date for Receipt of Entry: Sunday, September 30th
    Courses: Barryscourt, Deerpark and Belvelly
Entry Fee: €320 per team of eight or €40 per golfer
First Prize: Golf trip for 8 persons for 3 nights to La Quinta, Spain.
Second Prize: Golf outing to Doonbeg, Co. Clare, including dinner and B&B
Third Prize: Golf outing with lunch for eight at Fota Island Resort

Looks like you can pick the day you want to play.

Any interest in putting a Boards Team of 8 together? I know I haven't been part of the Boards Society but I plan to next year :D

Just throwing it out there :)

Edit: Just noticed the website says 9th September but PDF says 30th September which I would imagine is the correct closing date

I played in this last year. We came 3rd overall. It's €40 which becomes great value if you qualify for the final. It is also a counting singles comp which is a bonus.

As far as i remember it's the best 5 cards out of 8 that count. No doubt it's bandit heaven but it's still good value for the singles side of things, especially if you qualify for the final. Two rounds for €40 potentially
