Proposal Idea

    Hey guys,

1st Time poster on this thread but not new to boards. I've been doing a bit of research into ideas on how to propose to my girlfriend of 4 years and just wanted to seek some advice from people here.

Basically I've chosen a hotel in Wicklow to go to and I'll pop the question then but the problem is my girlfriend will know as soon as I tell her we're going to that hotel what I'm up too.

Even if I leave it till the day we're going to tell her she'll still know.

Will this ruin the 'surprise'? Should I consider somewhere else. I will say this place is special to us so that's why I would like to do it there. Any opinions?

How about if you tell you're going somewhere else and then when you arrive there she'll think that's the surprise or at least it'll be a bigger surprise?

Asking the obvious but how will she know it's a proposal when you tell her the name of a hotel?

I took her there for a treat a few months after we met and I told her I could see myself asking her to marry me there. We have even joked about it since.

I'm just in two minds about the whole surprise element and how important it is. On the other hand when I say we're staying in the Ritz Cartlon I'm sure the excitement levels will make it special too because she'll know what I'm up too

are you far from the Ritz? would it be somewhere feasible for her to be going for a spa day? you could tell a family member / close friend what your planning and get them to ask her to go for a spa day?

you get to the hotel 1st ? okay the friend / family member will make a wasted journey but im sure they would think its worth it???

Having a little idea of what is coming doesn't ruin anything at all trust me. My husband booked a surprise trip to Madrid and only told me the night before we were leaving where we were going. I had an idea of what was to come and it added to the weekend.
I had no idea when or where during the weekend he would actually ask me and when the moment came it was just lovely.

if you can work something out to suprise her altogether I think do. she will love it regardless

Why not tell her you've won a nights stay there, she won't suspect the proposal then. You can tell her after the proposal that you hadn't won it

maybe one of your parents could buy you a voucher for lunch there, "bunny rabbit fingers in the air"

is there anything that might on there that you could go to , then ask dya fancy lunch in the hotel real randomly on the day itself when youre conveniently nearby so you could use earlier strategically planted voucher?
