I need to get out to NUIG Sports Campus in Dangan, Newcastle every Saturday morning.

I hear it's a pretty long walk so what bus can I get that goes out that way and how long approximately does it take? What's the going rate for the shuttle buses these days?

Looking at galwaytransport.info you should take the 404

    www.galwaytransport.info/2012/02/bus-service-404-newcastle-and-westside.html

The site also had fares and times info.

That's a brilliant site. Is it JustMary's? Great work if so.

It only goes every hour on a Saturday? That's a bit of a balls.

If you walk from Eyre Square to the Sports Campus and back, you might get fitter.

    Just saying.

Hah, no doubt about it! I have gym membership elsewhere. I'm doing coaching there on Saturdays.

I'd also get lost walking there.

Yeah it's about an hours walk according to google maps.
Do you live in the city? It's pretty quick on a bike.

Should take no more than 30 mins to walk from Eyre Square to Sports Centre.

If you walk through the NUIG campus and along by the river Corrib up to Dangan it's a bit shorter.

A bit shorter than what

Would take about 35 mins to walk going through NUIG and up along the corrib.

Takes 40 mins to walk. 404 bus will get you to the Westwood & it's a wee walk up the hill

    Nope, coming from Tuam.

I'll take the bus coz I want to get out there as soon as I can.

Number 5 on the city-bus-stops map, just up a bit from where Burkes will drop you.

Yes, the site is my work, thanks for the nice words.

It's mad that a citizen volunteer maintains the city's public transport site, but it seemed like the only way we'd get one. I've since discovered that actions like this are called "tactical urbanism", and happen in all sorts of ways / places.

Than if you continued walking along University Road and turned right on to Newcastle Road at the junction with the hospital, and headed up to Dangan that way.

It takes me 20-30 minties every day, depending on how fast I walk.
I go from Eyre Square - Eglinton Street - Bridge - Cathedral - UCHG - Lower Newcastle

You could go as far as the university Road and cut through the campus.

I'm not known for my quick walking ability! I've really short legs. :(

I'll definitely get the bus first so I figure out where I'm going. In about 4 weeks time I'll have more time in the morning to get there so I might take a stroll out.

Thanks everybody for your help. :)

You have to walk faster, swivel those hips!
You might shave a minute or two off, if you take the river walk - quinncentenary bridge - dyke road - bothar na mban.

You had me until bother na mban! Which road is that?

I'd be going over the bridge if I turned left at the Topaz(I think) shop? And then there's a slip way down onto Dyke road isn't there?

Wouldn't that be longer if I was going into Eyre Square?

Actually scrap that, you'd be better off walking through campus as it's safer and more sheltered on the rainy days.
    So it's riverwalk-nuig buildings-cathedral-salmon weir bridge-eyre square..as suggested by others

I don't want to be reading that a mars bar got melted by a car
