    Hi all
First off i'm not a plumber, just a d.i.y'er so im looking for guidance here.
I've two ibc tanks connected to my downpipe (or will have anyway). I've a spare water tank up in the attic with a regular ball cock shut off valve system that i will use to flush my toilet and feed the washing machine etc. I am wondering what size quadplex to use to feed the water tank in the attic coming from the ibc's and what type of pump i will need.
This project is being done on a shoestring budget so i noticed lidl are selling a pump for 80€. Is this pump any good or what pump would you recommend?
I'm open to the idea of wiring in a timeclock for cheaper pumps that dont have automatic cut off built in.
Any advice would be great thanks!

I have not looked at the pump in lidl but if its the submerged pump i might have a couple of issues.

    1. There might not be enough pressure in the pump to pump it up to this height. Usually refered to along the lines of head pressure

    2. You will need to be careful with the water you collect. There will be a serious amount of contimanation from bird**** etc so the warmth of your attic might be a further breading ground for this. So if you plan to use the water for toilets sinks bar drinking be EXTRA sure the kids dont drink from it.

    3. Usually you pump up at the size the pump suggests. Typically 1.1/2" but saniflow pumps can actually pump down to 1.1/4 so check this one.

There is more you need to know but this should get you started. If it were me i would connect the ibc to your downstairs toilet through a hole in the wall. This is the toilet that is used the most. I would then just use the water for washing car, watering plants or even the washing machine or dishwasher through a cold feed...However it will need to debris filtered.

    My 2 cents

    Thanks joey.
I dont have a downstairs toilet, so out of necessity i have to pump upstairs to the attic.
I plan to put in filters on the head of the down pipe off the guttering. I also plan to install a first flush system so that should take care of the debris problem.
The system will be its own separate system so there's no way the kid can get at it unless she starts drinking from the toilet or washing machine, and if that happens ill be seriously worried!:pac:
