Inlet Manifold

    Hi All,

Car (Altea FR) was in for a service today and there is a bit of an oil leak in and around the inlet manifold, I'm told this is sign of wear and there are little plastic bits that eventually break up and go through the engine with bad results..........
The mechnic said he has seen this before on the Octavia RS which has the same PD 170 stove fitted.
I've never seen this mentioned on any of the forums before, VW, Seat, Skoda and Audi........

Has anyone seen or heard of this before or is the garage taking the piss?

Told it's in and around €550 odd for the job to be done.......bad times!!

    Thanks!

Car was a non runner in the vw garage so not to easy to get it out and into an independent garage, atleast i got the upgraded inlet manifold so the rod wil not get stuck again
