Hey. First of all a bit of a background to this post I'm a 26yo guy who's returning to college after completing a trade 3 years ago and spending 18 months of that time travelling and the rest waiting to get a place on my chosen course which follows on from my apprenticeship.
This will run for 2 years to level 7 and hopefully another 2 years add on for an level 8 honours degree.

Now I have been happily single the last 4 years doing my own thing after a long relationship.
In that time I have had a few flings but they never really led to a proper relationship.
I'm far from what would be considered good looking but lately I have been trying keep myself in good shape possibly to thin if anything, ditched glasses for contact lens etc.

Up until now I put the lack of success really down to living in an extremely rural location and my social network being decimated due to emigration.
Now that I have moved to Dublin for college, I see a lot of couples doing fun stuff I really miss being in a relationship.

Now here's the problem..I guess the fact that I'm going to be stuck in College for the next few years, along with the financial issues that go with student life would be a pretty big issue for most women or have I got this all wrong.

I feel I have nothing to offer.

I think that the fact that you have ambition is a big plus as far as women are concerned. It doesn't take a lot of money to have a social life. There are plenty of women out there and what one doesn't want another will, so there are plenty of opportunities for finding a new relationship and I wish you well with it.

I think you don't need to worry, the opposite...
man, you are in college, means there's so much choice and freedom to get to know people and as well girls...
better than in any work place.
and these fellow students/girls don't have much money either, you'll are be in the same boat.
and yes, you got it wrong that you obviously think women are only interested in men with money...

so cheer up and enjoy your college time!:)

First of all well done for going back to college. I would think many women, myself included, that one of the most attractive things going for a man is to have some drive and ambition.

I went back to college to when i was 24 and just started going out with my OH then... wasnt ideal timing but 5 years later we'r still goin strong so my two cents would be not to worry too much, things have a way of working out.

Work hard and achieve your goals and you'll be meeting plenty of new people in college so you never know what women will cross your path. best of luck!

I would agree with the above posts. Rather that sit around getting the dole each week you are willing to move on with your life by going back to college.
You will meet a lot of new people in college, learn a lot about yourself and life as well as gaining a qualification.
Also a college education should help you get a job, in time give you a better career path and lead to a higher salary during your working life.
A few years ago I know a lad who had done his business diploma in college. He had to work for a year before going back to college. This was during the boom and he got use to having money, had a good social life and went on a few lads holidays. His mother told him your going back to college as it will help you get a good job long term. He went back to college where he had a limited income when all of his friends were working in the building trade.
Today he has a good job. He told me if my mother did not make me go back to college I would not have got my job and I would now be on the dole or working abroad like a lot of my friends.
