    Hi all
im considering buying a detached house in a housing estate. At the moment its got a single storey ofshot on one side with utility room and downstairs bedroom.
Im wondering if it would be hard to get planning permission or if permission would be needed to put another room on top of this?

As always any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

If the existing "ofshot" is to the side then you will need permission to build on top of that. You would also need the founds checked.

Has anyone else in the estate done this already? If so then it makes it a little easier for permission to be got.

Thanks muffler. I never even thought about the strength of the founds. Its to the side so i'll need pp for sure then. Theres one house opposite that looks like it may have been extended but i cant say for sure as it was a slightly different house to begin with.
I would kibd of know the owner of the other house so i can ask him too.
