    Hey

Looking at booking VT for a group going from 15 Dec to 22 Dec (work means nothing later in the season is feasible unfortunately). Really worried we'll turn up and there'll be no snow (and I'll be lynched!)?

Also anyone stayed in Residence Hotel Montana? Thoughts?

Finally how much is it to travel from the train station at Moutiers to VT?

    Thanks!

Val Thorns is a very high resort so its chances of having snow early are possibly greater.

    From their website:
Val Thorens is big on the white stuff too. Given its lofty altitude (most of the skiing here is above 2000 metres) and its ultra-modern snowmaking network (with over 2000 guns spread across Les 3 Vallées), Val Thorens can virtually guarantee great snow conditions – from December until April!

No where absolutely No where is guaranteed Snow that early as last recent seasons have proved to spectacular effect.

VT is really high and is pretty snow sure most years. If your expectations are piste skiing and lots of it then you will be spot on and you should be well catered for.

If you are expecting powder and plenty of off piste your group may or may not be happy.

I actually stayed in that Residence Hotel Montana last season, in the 8/10 man apartment in chalet bouqetin (spelling probably wrong). Was fairly impressed. It was the first time I had a swimming pool and sauna to wind down after a day on the slopes which was great.

The place itself was decently kitted out and could be ski-in ski-out once you took a sneaky shortcut after the 'folie douche' bar.

Click here for coach transfer from Moutiers to Val Thorens, you can book online

Val Thorens will be open from early December with lots of snow making so there will be pistes open. You could get lucky, the last 5 years have mostly been excellent for early season snow from my experience in the Alps.
