Connecting upc hd box to sony dvd recorder

Hi there I have been trying to connect my new upc hd mediabox to my sony dvd recorder RDR-DC505 without much success. The best I can manage is sound but no picture, any Ideas??? Thanks

If you have Blue Ray I'm sure you can hook up the HDMI cable straight between the Blue Ray & the HD box.
