    hi
I am thinking about importing an A4 from the UK.
how far is reasonable to travel from an airport to a garage,
how many garages would you expect to visit?
where have you flown to and have you driven to the ferry, or has the garage brough the car to the ferry for you?

    thanks

I've only ever travelled for a specific car on which i've done all my homework and agreed a price in advance. I've never bought from a dealer, as the warranty would have been of no value to me.

I had a dealer collect me form the airport once, it was an hours drive away, but that was a Main BMW dealer and I knew that car was 100%. No harm in asking the dealer, but you would want to be pretty certain you'll be buying the car.

I purchased a 2 year old A4 tdi back in 2006 from a main dealer in Gloucester. I flew to Bristol and got the train to Gloucester. I'm not sure if there is still great value in the UK? I know you get a better car (I've imported a few), but I think the likes iof BCA car auctions would be a better option in terms of value for money, plus most of these cars are fleet owned and would have full main dealer history.

With the exchange rate the way it is and strong resale values on decent, straight UK second hand cars, there isn't a whole lot of value importing at the moment. Anything cheap over there at the moment is cheap for a reason.
