The songbird one is lovely..had it for communion. The rose is a bit somber but it's very popular. Just make sure to listen to the words of whatever song you choose. A lot of people pick songs because the think is weddingy..whats that one about a churchyard..but the lyrics in it are about the brides parents thinking the groom is useless. I remember being told it was a really populare one but people never listened to the verse.
When we had 'you can let go now daddy' we left out the last verse..for obvious reasons if you have a chance to listen to it!

songbird is better lyrics wise, but then its a very slow song, probably better as a first dance!

if you are looking for an unusual selection (considering most people can't stand the band)

Till kingdom Come - coldplay is a good one

its a brillant song lyrics wise and musically sounds like a hymn! :D (good if your priest doesn't like 'modern music')
while also being fast enough to walk down the aisle to! :D

they are very depressing songs especially wind beneath my wings (its about someone dying) - would you go for something more upbeat and celebratory?

honestly wind beneath my wings would make me think of death right away and im sure half the church will think the same. does it have to be a sung song ? there are some beautiful pieces of music out there.

what about christina perri a thousand years? its a nice beat to walk to and also listen to the words that really is the most important part when choosing your song as a lot of songs that will sound great for a wedding and then you relize what they are about and its so far from suitable. :D

Id go with the above as well. songbird or that bette midler song, lovely songs and all that but just brings memories of death due to the connections with them to cancer.
Thats the first things that came to mind when I hear them.

    sorry. :o

Many priests don't allow "pop songs." What about the trad "Island wedding " march on the Charlie Lennon album?

I sang 'Songbird' as the processional hymn for a wedding before and it was lovely (even if I do say so myself!). It's not too loud or obtrusive for the bridal party coming up the aisle and also it's not too fast as in my experience, the bridesmaids sometimes walk too fast so it encouraged them to walk a little slower :)

A friend of mine got married recently and walked up the aisle to A Thousand Years by Christina Perri.

My friend came in to Songbird sung by a soloist and accompanied by a guitarist. Very nice. (Had to talk her out of having Hallelujah! :pac:)
