How long to find out if you're getting a speeding fine?

I was on a road the other day I normally wouldn't travel, and there was no speed limit signs on it.

I was doing 40mph but it was a residential area, so assume I was speeding. (I'd guess 65kph in a 50kph zone?)

If I was, when will I get notified?

They usually come out fairly quick, within a week. So I'm told anyway, I'm still waiting on the one when I was sure I was caught on New Year's Day.

2-3 weeks is normal, but it can be up to 6 months.

If you don't sign for it, does it just delay the process?
