How much is my car worth??

    Hi all,

Need a bit of advise. I'm moving to the UK in 3 weeks and need to sell my car and not sure how much it is worth. Details are: Citroen C4 sport, 5 door, metallic blue, 60,000 KM, (very low mileage), recently serviced, NCT not due until Feb 13, immaculate condition, with a brand new timing belt. Engine is 1.4 and low tax. 2005 model in Dublin region. I'm figuring around the 5K mark or am I way off?

Also, if you can recommend dealer vs carzone vs private sale.

Any helpful replies are very much appreciated.

€4000 is about right i'd have thought. Private sale will get you the most for it, a dealer prob wont want it, if he does, he'll offer about 2500. They were never a great seller new and subsequently don't hold value like a focus/Golf/Corolla

Donedeal is the most popular way of selling privately

I'd say about 4k on a good day. But it really depends on who wants to buy it. Stick it on donedeal first and since you don't have much time to sell it you could also consider carzone expensive but you only have 3 weeks to sell it. I think you would be doing well to get 4k not because there's anything wrong with the car was in one before there nice but there's just not that much of a market for it. Best of luck with the sale hope it goes well for you.

2,500 maybe 2,750 If you're lucky. Citreons are dreadful at holding value

Here is a similar one on sale by a dealer with a 3 month warranty, asking €4k.

Selling privately, I think Colm is on the botton with around €3k, not a snowball's chance in hell will you get anything near €5k for it.

Ask 3k, take less if offered.

Off topic...I always liked the look of those cars!

Me too. Not so much the 5 door the OP has but I like the looks of the 3 door. Arguably the best looking small family hatch in its day!

Citroen were obviously inspired by the early 1990s Mazda 3 hatchback rear too:

Nope. I'd say €8k, €9k at a push. I bought a 09 Mondeo diesel last year for less than €9k

Can I ask the same question if one of you kind souls don't mind :)

    08 Focus, 1.6 TDCI, 110BHP. Zetec model. Lowest tax band (160 a year), NCT'd til August 2014. 5 door, silver, 45000miles.

Got to be worth at least 10, no?

    UK import?

€3k I'd say. As my work mate was recently told about his Citroen..."they're harder to shift than AIDS" :(

    Yup. How'd you guess?

Import in the sense that I was the UK owner. From the north rather than England.

you gave the odometer reading in miles for a 2008 model

The Zetec 1.6 litre TDCi was only sold here in 90bhp form where as it was available in 110bhp in the UK.

Pretty sure the mileometer can be switched from miles to km in a Focus (and vice-versa) regardless of whether or not the clocks are in mph or km/h.

As already mentioned, the fact that it is 110 bhp is the real giveaway as to the car's origins.
