These guys opened their UK and Ireland Tour in Belfast last night to a packed sold out Mandela Hall.

Lumineers got a fantastic reception for a support act, played 45 mins, really engaging - cant wait to see them in their own right in the Olympia in February.

The Civil Wars are a class act - brilliant harmonies, great songs and really witty banter- shame they played barely an hour for their first trip to Belfast

Still it's rare to get two really quality acts on the one evening - enjoy tonight!

They do only have 1 album so it's not surprising that they only played an hour. I thought they were pretty good but the lumineers were excellent, so professional and just full of bounce and energy. Cracking gig all round.

    Super gig!
It's not often you see nearly the full crowd waiting for the support act to come on!
Those who arrived during or just after must have got a shock!

It may be the last we see of them.

    From the BBC site:

"Grammy award-winners The Civil Wars have cancelled the remainder of their current tour, attributing the decision to "internal discord". US pop-country duo Joy Williams and John Paul White had been due to play several UK dates this week. Because of "irreconcilable differences of ambition", they said in a statement, the band were unable to "continue as a touring entity at this time". Earlier this year the pair cancelled part of their European tour. Writing on social networking site Facebook on Tuesday, the duo apologised to fans for the "abrupt" cancellation as "something we deeply regret"."

2025 Gigs and Events: Stuart Murdoch, Lyle Lovett, Camera Obscura, The Corrs/Imelda May/Natalie Imbruglia, Olivia Rodrigo, Iron Maiden, Neil Young/Van Morrison, Dua Lipa, Lana Del Rey, Weezer, The Doobie Brothers, Billie Eilish (x2), Oasis, Sharon Van Etten, The Human League, Deacon Blue
