Sulphur in water - Help

    Hey folks,

Im hoping someone can help me. We built a house 4 years ago and sank our own well. We found that the water contained a lot of sulphur so contacted a water company who came to the house and basically sold us a package (softener, tanks, air hoses, etc) to get rid of the sulphur. All fine until a few weeks ago we noticed the smell back and also dirt coming into the taps. So we called them out and they came today. Basically I have a note here from their plumber to say that the sulphur has corroded the circuit board on the softener, and the copper and brass fittings of all the equipment in the garage (this is where all our water and tanks are). His advice - change out all the copper and brass fittings and replace the circuit board on the softener.

Sounds like a big job to me. But what I want to know is how can there be sulphur corroding stuff if this system was supposed to get rid of it?
