Not sure if this should be posted in the general forum or in the workshop so if Im wrong feel free to move it mods!
Im travelling to Thailand next week and am trying to find out of lenses are much cheaper over there. Im looking at buying a small Canon fisheye, probably a 17-40mm lens, and Im also on the look out for a telephoto lens....and lets face another camera as well! Would I get good value in Thailand. I'll probably be heading over to Singapore as well and Ive heard that it usually has really good value too. Any ideas on where would be better to buy?

    Thanks!

Singapore would be my choice between there and Thailand. Watch out for fakes also. Good luck.

Singapore or Hong Kong are the places to get Photography gear.

The MBK Centre near Siam Square in Bangkok has some well stocked camera shops and some interesting gear, but I found it as pricey as Ireland.

It's worth a visit if in Bangkok though, many of the shops have lots of interesting new and old gear on display, and the sales people don't put the squeeze on as soon as you look at something.

I agree. On a recent trip through the area I priced camera gear in Bangkok and also North Vietnam. In Bangkok I found it actually quite expensive when compared to other stuff. While it is cheaper than going to a high street shop in ireland it isnt cheaper than going to some of the online stores that we can access such as onestop-digital or ebay. Vietnam is a little cheaper on the high street but only comparable to internet here. I buy everything from onestop-digital now. Very cheap, quick and free delivery
