Thinking of getting a new car

    My budget would be 15 - 25

Ideally a diesel wouldn't mind a 6 series diesel but I don't think its in my budget

    Any suggestions

Skoda Octavia 1.6 tdi or 2.0tdi depends on what power you want. Top of the range model elegance all the bells and whistles 22k brand new you certainly can't beat them for value. We have a 2011 one and they are a great car. Good on diesel comfortable and reliable. Hope this helps.

OP, you need to be a bit more specific in what you want, there are 100s of diesel cars that fit your budget. Saloon, hatchback, coupe, estate, SUV? What engine size limitations do you have?

Don't mind on the engine size once it has a bit of power
    Has to be automatic

I it worth looking at auctions do you save much buying that way

No offence, but this is laughably vague. As bazz26 says, there are literally hundreds of cars out there that fit your given criteria, each of which is the right compromise for a particular owner. Which owner are you?

Not unless you really know your stuff.

Not trying to push the Octavia or anything but it has a good few gadgets. One perticular feature if you lock the car leave the windows down and go away if it starts to rain the car pulls the windows up itself to stop the interior getting wet it can tell its raining from the sensor on the window has sat nav cruise control maxi dot display trip computer drl's all the usual things. But if you are looming at one only look at the elegance spec as that has all the gadgets extras the ambiente is middle spec and classic lower spec but wouldn't be bothered with them very plain inside. 1.6 tdi is a good engine but if you want a very powerful car probably better stick to the 2.0 tdi 140 bhp. A 2.0 tdi elegance model with a few other extras would still be under 25000 euro. I think the heated leather seats are 1000 euro extra but even including them the car would cost a good bit less then 25,000. Sorry if I'm going on about them a bit just trying to give you a more detailed description.

To be honest any decent exec saloon has had those extras for years. Even any Golf with rain sensing wipers does the windows trick.

Most of the vag cars have that I know. But I am just tring to suggest something within the ops budget. As even to buy a top spec auto golf it would be more than 25k I would assume I don't actually know the prices of golfs tbh. At the end of the day the ops budget of 25k is reasonable but considering he wants a high spec diesel with an automatic gearbox there is only so many cars of that spec which fall into ops price if you know what i mean. I would have thought even a new accord would be way way more then 25k new only tring to be realistic with suggestions that's all.

I don't think the OP is looking for a new NEW car as in ordered from factory. I think, although the OP is welcome to correct me, that they are looking at second hand cars.

Sorry when he said new I thought he meant brand new but your probably right.
If the op is going for secondhand then it broadens the amount of cars that fall into their budget. Sorry for the misunderstanding .

I'm not after a brand new car
    Anything from 2006 on

Sorry thought you ment brand new if that's the case you should be able to get a very nice secondhand car for your budget. Best of luck with the search.
