I am talking with my landlord about servicing our boiler. he reckons that his mate who done a few courses on these things can adjust the settings on the boiler and get it to run more efficiently by attaching something to the exhaust and examining these fumes?! He also mentioned how it might be running on 60% efficiency and never notice any change in heating but the kerosene would be the only thing effected?!

Any one knows of such apparatus or boiler exhaust testing?
shall i trust this friend of a friend?!

The apparatus does exist, knowing how to use is where the skill lies.
Fuel consumtion would be the most noticable result of a well serviced boiler.

How old is it, I thought 60% might be an optimistic estimate for oil.
