Are wheels covered by the warranty?

    Hi guys

I bought my road bike only last year in april. The bike has only about 3000km done. Last week I was coming back from a spin and noticed the spoke ripped of the rim. Would this be covered by warranty? The bike is Cube peloton , and wheels are easton. Pictures below:

WOW! Straight back to the shop!

IMO a wheel should not fail like that, i.e. by ripping a spoke through the rim, it should wear down on the brake track until it collapses.

Wheels should certainly be covered by warranty, even if bought separately. Consumer rights would provide appropriate protection also

It certainly looks strange - presumably it's the same spoke from different directions? Are there any signs of damage to the rim around any of the other spokes?

Don't worry even if its out of warranty!

It should be covered under the 'Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act 1980' as if a spoke trps through a rim it's not fit for purpose.

I'd imagine the shop you got it from will sort you out. Either way you'll be grand I'd say

Those wheels are complete junk. Google problems with easton wheels on cube bikes. The shop won't give you any hassle.

They'll give you a DT Swiss wheelset instead I's imagine

An example of trouble with wheels here

I bought the bike with wheels on it, didn't buy them separate. The picture shows spoke from both sides. There is no sign of any damage on the rim as far I can see. The wheel was always straight since I bought the bike, never needed truing.
If you guys think it will be sorted by the shop, I might pay them a visit.

I had this problem with a wheel, after 18 months use. Shop said, wheel was out of warranty. I quoted above Act. I got replacement straight away.

I might try to pull this one out if they will try to send me off, but I know I am not the best when it comes to arguments...

Either way I am slightly disappointed. My other bike trek 7.5 has way over 10k clocked, and wheels were never touched.

Cube have replaced loads of these wheels, very surprised if you'll need to be quoting any acts.

Bought a bike myself in April, just after getting Shimano wheels replaced, no problem at all. Brother bought same bike as you in May and got Easton wheels replaced. Very common

If there's a problem the best thing to ask them is do they think it's reasonable for a wheel to fail after a year of normal use, and is that the same for all wheels in their shop.

    Hi Guys

Sorry for bringing up old thread, but I have a question.
As per advise from you guys, I took the bike to the shop. They said its covered by the warranty, and took the bike. And that was on 13 September.
Today we have 10 of December, and I still don't have the bike back. As per update form the shop, they are waiting for the wheel to come from the cube.

    What are my options now?

Given the time it is taking I would suggest you ask the shop to provide you with a temporary replacement wheel

To be blunt, if the bike is in shop 3 months you've been to nice and no where near pushy enough.
Tell them to give you bike back with new wheels tomorrow or keep the bike and refund you full amount.
Don't listen to any nonsense ambout cube won't do this or that. Your contract is with shop. Let them worry about cube.
Look for there DT swiss replacement wheel, aksiums, fulcrum 7's or similar.

No more mr nice guy gets you what you paid for, a bike that works!
