    Hi,
I got a new racer and was wondering what people recommend as a pump seeing as a hand pump doesn't seem to work.
    Thanks

    Heya,

Footpumps only work for Schrader valves, these are found on cars and older bikes etc..

The valve on a road bike is a Presta valve, the skinny one that I would call it.

    This will do the trick

If you need help with inflating let me know :)

Look at a few mini-pumps. I started using them years ago after I had a few air cartridges fail to inflate. They even have ones that have a foot hold.

My mini pump has no problem bringing the psi's to 120.

Also, always keep a schraeder adapter handy, just in case.

zefal hpx is a good pump. Comes in a few different sizes.

This Lezyne seem interesting, might be my next pump purchase if the Zefal goes.

topeak pocket rocket is small, light and will put 120psi into your tube, no problem.

It's a very good pump for the size but I never got near that with it and I doubt you are either. After 80 or even less you can't really tell by feel, and there is no gauge. I have a Zefal HPX now, much better pump but even that is tough getting to 70-80. The gold standard really is a track pump, no one should be relying only on a hand pump of whatever type, that is just for emergencies.

Dunno, I've fixed a puncture, given it 200 strokes, come home and topped-up with the old Joe Blow, and it reads pretty much that.

Bought this pump myself recently. Great yolk. And cheaper than a lot of other footpumps out there. Shows the PSI and seems good quality to me.

Also have a small psi pump bought from Halfords that I use for emergencies, ie strapped to the side of the bike along with 2 tubes in my bag under the saddle.

    200?!
How often do people find those co2 cannisters fail?

Would this http://www.sportsdirect.com/muddyfox-alloy-floor-pump-931166 do the job?
It seems a lot cheaper than the other suggestions. Also what pressure should it be at, Thanks.

Must of missed that one hehe :o

Yeah that will do the job.

Most tubes are 120 psi but take a look on the side of the tire just to be sure, it should be written on it.

Id recommend the the full size pump, it would fit underneath your crossbar. A size four you would be looking for. Better then a mini pump/co2 canisters in my opinion. It only takes a minute to pump a wheel up.;)

I got a Topeak Road Morph Pump last year and find them great. You can get the version that has a gauge built in. Had to use it at the weekend and not a bother getting to over 100PSI (according the the gauge anyway). It's good because you can use it in your hands or flick out two bits and it becomes a standing pump.
