If you haven't got any experience, you'll need to do an internship somewhere, either through something advertised on activelink.ie or the government scheme. After that organisations like IPSOS, ESRI and Red Sea, activelink.ie is also worth keeping an eye on and market research is an alright way to build up practical experience.

You'll do yourself an awful lot of favours if you have competencies around survey design, implementation and analysis.

It's 'easier' to go down the PhD route then try to find employment in an organisation. The capacity still doesn't really exist for young researchers to find employment in Ireland outside of the university. I'd keep an eye on the UK and, if you can speak the languages, France, Germany and/or the Netherlands.

What sort of work are you looking for?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

This isn't really a Postgraduates thread - moved to Work & Jobs.
