This has to be one of the best strikes of a ball you'll ever see from Henderson!

    23' [0 - 1] S. Murray
    35' [1 - 1] L. Caldirola
    37' Red Card D. Williams
    57' [1 - 2] A. Doran
    58' [1 - 3] C. Henderson
    82' [1 - 4] A. Doran
    83' Red Card A. Forde
    90' [2 - 4] S.E. Shaarawy

Great goal but Italy were already through so it's not the big of a win. :P

Murray's was excellent, Henderson's the better goal though no doubt

Givens must be disgusted with all this forward play in the one match.

    Cracking result.

We still dont qualify and italy stuck out kids :D but 4 wins in the group is better than Givens entire 47 year tenure :p

What's all this slick passing and confident finishing? Those lads had better buck up their ideas if they ever hope to get a senior call-up.

Great to see an Irish team playing like this and scoring such goals.

    1. It really shows how **** a job Don Givens was doing with the 21s and it's a disgrace he is still in a job in the FAI.

    2. I hope Trappatoni is long gone before he ruins this promising generation of players.

An Irish team that were already eliminated before stepping foot on the pitch.

This anti-Trap hysteria is really getting farcical at this stage. Pitiful stuff.

Anyways, some lovely goals from the team. I liked Henderson's one especially.

Unfortunately a losing effort for the U21's though - they finished third in their group:

    Italy 19pts
    Turkey 15pts
    Ireland 13pts
    Hungary 12pts
    Liechtenstein 0 pts

What the hell was the midfielder doing in the opposition half, if he had missed then Italy could have countered.

Pffft...poor mans darren Gibson.....can he spend ninety minutes watching the ball fly over his head, THAT is the question!!

Gibson's a good solid mid table premier league player as he's showed much of last season and plenty this season, he just wasn't man united / champs league standard.

Each time he played for Ireland he wasn't in the united team for a run of consecutive games, I can guarantee you that a McCarty and Gibson midfield both coming in with games under their belt is better than ANYTHING we could muster in an Irish midfield.

Some of these lads deserve call-up's to the full team, especially in these pointless friendlies that we are so intent on playing.

I mean, what is the point of playing McShane, Keogh and the like? We know what these guys can do, and it's not much.

Would really like to see those two play together but i dont know if they are solid enough. If we are not going to play Wilson or Clark in their best positions i wouldnt mind seeing either of them sitting deep behind McCarthy and Gibson.
