Replacing existing timer with new 7 day timer?

    Hi
Pics are of the existing 24 hour timer used to control my oil fired boiler at home, top slider powers boiler on/ off second slider powers motorised valve. Is it possible to replace this with a new 7 day timer, preferably one with a boost button. Next question, is this a relatively easy job (I am handy but could ask my electrician brother to fit if needs be)? Recommend any brand or model in particular? Thanks

    simple enough replacement(imho)

i think you can leave the base plate alone so no wiring required, just unscrew old clock and fit new clock

Could you keep us up to date with how easily its done as I too have a similar old one which I would like to change to a modern one.

I thought it might be a job for an electrician, but is it manageable by a DIYer?

I received the new timer this, just popped off the old one and clipped the new one on. All appeared to be working BUT the boost function for the hot water only will not fire up the boiler, so I am guessing a wiring problem which I'll have to investigate....

make sure the timer is set to auto or timed for boost button to function
