I just saw this box (Finlux Satelite Combi Box) advertised in Harvey Normans magazine for €149. It doesnt give much details on it, but it says it had over 200 channels and is Saorview approved. The magazine also advertises a 4life MPEG4 Satellite Combi Box for €99. I don't really know much about how these would work. Do you just attach them like a upc / sky set top box and you then have access to all channels or is it more complicated!?

    Any advise would be great!

    thanks

If you want to receive satellite channels, you'll need a feed from a satellite dish & for Saorview or other terrestrial, a feed from a suitable UHF aerial.

The box is linked to the tv via HDMI or scart.

What chipsets do those boxes use?

I thought there were only 2 Saorview approved combo/combi boxes - the Walker WP654TS-HD and Triax TSC 114.

Now to make me more confused there's this Finlux SAO634 STB T8010 and yet another, the 4ife SV600 (I think it's a combo).

I know it's purely subjective but

which is prettier to look at !?
much more importantly ..... which has the best software - ease of manipulation of favourites - sorting favourites.
