Pinifarina is the design house that designed the car, they're probably the most famous car design house due primarily to their work over the years for Ferrari.

The 406 coupe is a lovely car and can be got for very little money these days (for the 2.0 litre petrol anyway). I drove one in Australia and have been looking for one recently as a bangernomics purchase. By all accounts they're pretty reliable (although French electronics have a reputation) and give reasonable MPG. Not super quick, but a good-looking cruiser.
