Hi all. Just a quick question. I currently play off 17.2. I was down to 15.7a few months ago but unfortunately have drifted out again. In order to try out for the p.p team next year do I have to get my handicap back down to 15 again? I would love to try out for it but know I need to work on my game. Few of my playing partners have commented that I should try out for it but I am just not totally up on the rules. Any help appreciated

nope, in terms of PP next year, your handicap will be the lowest in the calender year of 2012, so you'd be a 16 handicapper.

Goes on previous years lowest handicap. So assuming 15.7 is the lowest you will have reached before next year, 16 is your 'Purcell' handicap for next year. If May comes around (or whenever your Purcell thing is on) it's irrelevant if you are off 20 or 11. Clearly you will stand a better chance of making the team if you've come down. If you've drifted to 18/19 by that stage it would stand to reason that you might not get selected but if you do you will be a '16'. Make any sense? Ideally the captains would pick people on the way down, someone with a low of 13 last year who started the year like a demon and was a 'current' 9 would be a great pick.

So I can't try out? Combo of 27 yes??

If the combo is 27 then you can play with a 12. It doesn't have to be spot on 27. It can be above 27 but for obvious reasons it's better to have combo's as close as possible to the minimum.

I always assumed there was no upper Limit on handicap for Pierce Purcell, just as stated below, combined handicap has to be minimum 27.

Can't remember exact limit on lowest handicap possible off the top of my head, but think its around 11 or 12?

No upper limit. Lowest is 12.
