the fifth and final season is starting Friday fortnight, but now its not gonna run straight through for 13 weeks and is instead gonna be taking 18 weeks to air them, so thats 5 weeks of breaks:(,

    http://cartermatt.com/31782/fringe-season-5-the-series-finale-will-air/

i was reading an article a few day ago that also said the finale will be a 3 parter,

so now that were nearly there, what are peoples expectations, can they wrap this up nice and neatly, will william bell pop his head up again, how much of olivia is in etta,

Think I'll watch until the first break then let them build up a bit and watch them slowly then. Somehow I managed to avoid Season four until it ended but I doubt I can do it knowing it's the last season now.

I don't think i'll watch any of it until near the end of the show. Absolutely despise mid-season breaks, and hate waiting for it.

I enjoyed Fringe but I sort of lost track of it around season 3. With the end in sight, perhaps I should make a concerted effort to go back and start again.

Having been sorely disappointed with the latter half of Lost I have been cautious about getting too engrossed in other shows. Has Fringe managed to answer some of the questions it put out, or are current fans looking for a lot of answers, which may not be explained.

From what I've heard, season five is going to be in the future. A lot of stuff will be flashbacks or left unanswered unfortunatly.

They essentially wiped the timeline clear anyway so it's all rather up in the air.

yeah with what happened to pater they kinda reset the whole thing really, im just interested to see how things work out, and its interesting that we only get to see how things happen in flashbacks while the main story is played out in the future,

we now know so much about the observers and what their purpose was all along, we know why walter and bell were doing the cortexifan studies for, and why william bell disappeared,

im finding it hard to think of any big mystery that has to be solved, maybe how things work out on the other side, will we be seeing altivia or walternate this season,

    only 12 days to go:):),

I love that they are willing to change the format so often. From the introduction of the 2nd universe, to the almost reboot in season 4, to the future future timeline in season 5. A lot of risks, which have made for excellent watching.

So like the second last season of Lost which was set 30 years in the past, with the odd flash forward, this is the opposite...?

Perhaps I will give it a miss. My last coherent memory of Fringe was Olivia seeing the Twin Towers in the alternate universe. For me that was an awesome moment. Rebooting it, and then setting it in the future... I'm not sure if its for me. I don't want to be stuck at the end going but why was this? and what was that about etc. At least in something like the X-Files, they answered most of the questions posed in the last few minutes of the episode. Sometimes the answers were a bit anti-climactic, but at least you don't end up 5 seasons in with questions from season 1 still needing to be answered.

yeah but there is a reason their heading into the future, the whole team gets trapped in time, we still dont know why,

fringe hit its prime in the second half of season 2 and all of season 3, season 1 was very procedural, and while it did stay procedural they did eventually get a great overall storyline going, moving away from procedures here and there, season 4 was a bit so so, yeah they kind of rebooted it, but they had a good explanation and an interesting twist,

i dont want to say to much in case you decide to watch it (and you should, the show get more or less universal praise), but being able to watch it straight through would make it so much better, some of the breaks it took really effected the pacing of the show, this season only has 13 episodes in total but is gonna be taking 5 weeks worth of breaks:mad:

I'd say you should definitely watch it. It doesn't really leave things unanswered, it's just that when it gives answers it always raises more questions. But I think the only things unanswered are from the end of the last season, so I'm sure they'll be answered next season.

I don't think there is much left unanswered at all at this point. Season 4 pretty much wrapped up everything except for the future storyline introduced in 4:19, which is what this series will focus on. The main question left is whether the alt-universe will feature or not.

I see Sky are only starting to show it on 24 Oct so if they keep pace at that stage they shouldn't have the 5 week break issue. Have to admit I couldn't wait and have seen Ep1 but I might wait now.
