I currently have normal pedals on my road bike but was thinking of upgrading to the two items below from Chainreactioncycles as I'll be looking to up the distance I'm cycling during the autumn/winter.

    Pedals

or - these ones are wider, may suit the wider shoes below.

    and then ..

Shoes - going with a size bigger as recommended on the reviews.

    Am I missing anything??

I presume its not that hard to take off one set of pedals and attach another. Maybe I'm wrong??

Lastly the bike is a carerra virtuoso 8speed if that makes any difference.

Any help welcome, except the go to your lbs. Lbs would be ideal if the price difference in this sort of stuff wasnt so steep.
So I'm looking to give it a go myself to save a few pound.

    Thanks

It's dead simple as long as you have a pedal spanner and some grease. If you don't have a pedal spanner, you can use an ordinary 15mm spanner, but you might find it difficult to apply enough torque.

As you probably know, the left pedal is reverse threaded so it doesn't go in the way you might expect, and obviously the same applies when you're taking it off.

I have the pedals (first link) and the shoes that you have linked and I find them very comfortable, after I set them up correctly! Though they are my first set of pedals/shoes as I only got the bike 3 weeks ago - 11 hour so far with no issues! :)

I have a similar set up, ie 105 pedals and R078 shoes which I think are similar except mine have Velcro top strap as opposed to the rachet strap on those. Anyway the shoes are very comfortable and your right to go a size larger as they're a little on the narrow size. The pedals are easy to clip in and out of and it shouldn't take you too long to get used to it.

Did you need to buy anything else? Or is everything included, eg cleats etc..maybe?

I know that sounds stupid but I dont want to order them only to find out now I have to order another part.

Good to know they are the right shoes n pedals though. cheers.

Considering buying this X-Tools Bike Tool Kit - 18 Piece as well. Looks like good value for money for the long term.

Cleats come with the pedals , just be careful about fitting them as the setup puts your foot into a static position, and if this is different to 'pre-clipless' you could notice some pain, so experiment carefully with the setup and cleat/foot position.

Oh and practise like a madman before venturing out.....upside beetle impressions are hilarious to onlookers!
