    Hi,
I'm looking for good value accommodation for 4 nights (Friday to Tuesday) in February in a decent resort in Austria. We are a group who have been to Mayrhofen for the last few years and we are interested in a change of scene.
We will fly to Munich and would like to keep the transfer under 2 hours.
Can anyone recommend a reasonable B&B, pension or hotel. Kitzbuhel or Saalbach would be ideal but they seem to be short on reasonable accommodation.
    We're open to suggestions.
    Thanks!!

Okay, I probably should have been more specific...

We're looking for B&B/Pension/cheap hotel suggestions for Saalbach or Kitzbuhel for 8. It appears that a lot of places are only offering saturday to saturday stays.
Can you let me know of any recommendations.

Also, does anyone have any experience of Kirchberg?

Check with the tourist offices in each town - they will circulate requests to accommodation providers and you will get your answers back from places that have space available and do part-weeks.

Normally most places will do part weeks - the days of resorts being booked to the hilt are more or less gone in my experience. The one possible exception is during mid-term (Irish, British, Dutch, German, Danish mainly, and especially when they all happen the same week) when accommodation will be in high demand. You indicate February which is mid-term time. Check your dates.

However, mailing the tourist offices should get you a result either way.

Yes, I did my 2009 trip there. Kirchberg is only 4km from Kitzbuhel. It is a nice little village with about 10-15 bars and restaurants and a club too. We were there late season in April so it wasn't that lively.

For a pension there I can highly recommend staying with Paul Shevlin and his crew. He owns this chalet here http://www.alpenrider.com/

They are mainly Australian staff in the chalet and are a good bunch, Paul comes around every night with lots of free Jagermeister to get the party started. The staff will also go riding with you on the first couple of days and show you some good runs if you want. Also up until March it is possible to ski back to within 50 metres of the chalet door, by April it melts a bit but it was still only a 400m walk across a field. The home run is really cool and has a few bars on the way down to stop in if you're tired.

I found them really good for a budget holiday. Our package included 4 nights dinners, the food wasn't top notch but perfectly fine nonetheless- we weren't expecting them to go out on a limb at the bargain prices in any case. It was good to have a few nights out in restaurants as Austrian eateries are really good quality and value. They'll also pick you up from Salzburg airport (about 1.5hours away) or Munich too which saves on expensive transfers.

All up it was great value for money for what you got.

Try the Hotel Austria in Soll, very good and reasonable family run hotel in the centre......Soll (Ski Welt)is a big area and you can actually ski all the way to Kitzbuehel....although when you get there, a different pass is needed if you want to ski kitzbuehel.

We've stayed in Hotel Panther in Saalbach a few times. They have let us do odd days in the past, so I assume they will still allow it.
Great location. Nice hotel. Decent food. Great pool!

    Hi Donie,

We have stayed in kitzbuhel a few times we normally book accomadation through apartmentmanagers.at They have a good few places on their website you can check if they are available for your dates. They insist on Sat to Sat at peak times but are open to offers in the low season. If you book them ask about the snow fun package as they include the ski pass and this gets you 20% discount on hire and lessons and in some shops in the town. Its 1 and half hours from Munich or 2 and hlf hours from memmengen if you fly Ryanair. You can get real cheap flights to memmengen in the middle of the week around 20 euro each way.

Thanks for all the info. We decided on Kirchberg because other friends are going there. I sent out lots of emails to hotels and apartments and I got apartments with breakfast in kirchberg at a very good price. It's in the Kalswirt and they were very easy to deal with.
Got Aer Lingus flights in the sale and a transfer sorted.
    We're doing 4 nights/5 days for around €400.
