TDI Tuning/NCT

Have an Altea FR, hoping to get it over to Joe Power's at some stage to get the DPF taken out and the EGR bypassed.

I was thinking of getting him to up the BHP but I'm concerned about clutch and turbo wear, the turbo's in the PD 170 engine hasn't been known to be a wonderful thing and when you add the DMF issues to that it could well be a mistake!! Anyone had it done on a VW and how have you fared? It was 170BHP leaving the factory and I was going to go to 190 or there abouts.

Also, with a DPF removal and EGR bypass, does anyone know what that will do in an NCT? It'll affect the emmissions/smoke but are they doing visual checks for DPF installation?

    Ta!

I drive a Fabia vRS '04 mapped from 130 bhp to 185 ish. (engine-code ASZ)

I have by-passed the EGR, chopped out the catalytic converter, replaced the KKK turbo with a TurboTechnics hybrid, replaced the standard intercooler and piping with an FMIC, replaced the standard clutch and DMF with a Sachs Organic clutch and a Sachs (Sport / SuperSport ???) DMF. She has just sailed through her latest NCT in June, the second since the changes.

    Cheers for the reply!!

The clutch and DMF were done under warranty a while back, Seat warranty so I had to go with what was being put in. I would have done things different if I had my way!
Is there much of a difference in the hybrid turbo? There's a Garrett unit in mine.
The main objective here is to lose the DPF, gain MPG and make sure it'll pass an NCT........

Ring Joe and ask him. He'll set you straight.

I know he's away for a few weeks so you probably won't get him until the end of the month.

    I will do indeed!

Ever get your Seat issue sorted? Was it the tuning box?

Relay in the hazard light switch! Got one last week and it's grand now!!

Plan is to take the dash out at some stage this week and tidy up the wiring. Get back to mondello then and go for another test.
