Hot water thermostat - how to turn down?

    Hi,

This might be a silly question but said I'd ask here before I get onto the landlord in the morning - moved into an apartment this weekend (apartment's about 10 years old) but the hot water is scalding hot, to the point it's dangerous and it seems its like this all the time.

The water is controlled by a Horstmann E7 like this but while the dial is set to the time the boost nearly always seems to turn itself on too. Is there a way for me to reduce the thermostat on this type of system (or is it the Horstmann is wrong?) before I damage myself on the water?

    Thanks in advance

    S

The thermostat itself is built into the immersion itself. They are factory set at 60C so it is unlikely that it has been altered but you never know! More likely to be faulty and a replacement is required. Relatively small and easy job to do.
