Well kind detailing experts, I'm looking to pick up a long lasting wax (for a white car). Unfortunately AG HD wax is out of budget and I was hoping to pick up something for about €30. I'm a bit of a Meguires fanboi but was wondering which of their waxes is best. Or is there something else I should be getting??

    Thanks in advance :D

The only Meguires wax I have is Gold Class Liquid Wax, it is easy to apply and buff off. I think it leaves a great shine to my black car and gives a great finish. However it doesnt last as long as other waxes so if durability is what you are after then maybe it is not the best choice.

Collinite 476 paste wax or 845 liquid wax are very highly rated on forums as a long lasting value for money product. I have never used either though so can't comment from first hand usage.

I also have Poorboys World Natty's Paste Wax which I think leaves a good finish and is easy to apply and remove. It is not known to be the longest lasting but will last longer than Meguires Gold Class though. And I personally found it to be pretty durable, although I would put regular topups of it in the summer months as I enjoy waxing the car. But then in the winter when the car doesnt get the same pampering I still feel its is well protected.

As you have a white car you may want to consider a sealant instead of a wax, a sealant should last longer than wax too. Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection is a popular one on detailing forums and can be bought in many autofactors/stores within your budget.

Well, personally I use Megs Tech Wax and find it to be very good. But I'm sure Vectra and MM would be the men to ask for better advice.

    @ OP
    As mentioned above.
I would suggest a couple of coats of Collinite 845 liquid wax ( It is easier to use than the 476 paste wax )and top it off every 2 weeks or so with a coat of Chemical Guys Blitz.
I find this give a great finish on white.

Have tried umpteen different products but keep going back to the Blitz.
The coats of collinite will give it good protection for the winter and the blitz will put a smile on your face,

    Vectra is spot on! ;)

Collinite is very durable, and is a perfect Last Stage Protection for the winter months.
AG Extra Gloss Protection works well on all colours, but find it best on Silver and Whites.

As ever, durability and appearance (shine) is most achieved from good preparation....nothing our going to work great if you lash it on after a wash....a good clay is advised.

Thanks everyone for your quick replies. From a quick bit of research there I think that i'll try AG extra gloss protection.
I did clay the car about 6 weeks ago followed by the meguires three step (paint cleaner, polish and wax) but found that the wax is basically piss. Do you think that I should clay it again to remove these products, then use AG SRP then the extra gloss protection?

A wash with fairy liquid or similar will remove any protection that's on the car already. No point wasting clay :)

Zymol is excellent. I've used the Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection and didn't think it left much gloss or any protection. Then again I have a red MR2 which is virtually impossible to prevent fading.

If you've clayed it only 6 weeks ago - it should be reasonably clean still. You might have a bit of tar on the car though, after the hot wear. De-tar, wash with a strong All Purpose Cleaner to strip back whats left of the Meg's Wax and you should have a good surface to use the AG EGP on. Be sure to give it at least two coats minimum, and if you want best results for durability, a minimum an hour between coats to give it time to cure.
