How to verify mileage on van

    Bit of advice needed. Any way to check the mileage on a van if you suspect it has been clocked? does a doe cert just take it from the dash?

    Check the stamps on the service log, call the garages that did the services and verify that they have been done. When tey have been done, and what mileages

    also computer diagnostics would show real mileage, as mileage on clock easy change. i've checked with vag-com friends low mileage cheap passat... on clocks was 87 k miles, diagnostics displayed 186k miles, car was in good shape indeed, but friend anyway sold it.

    And if your friend has sold it without disclosing the true mileage he has committed the offence of fraud by misrepresentation. I hope he has been honest enough to infrom the buyer.

    Why dont they do computer diagnostics at the doe test?

    Mileage is a number, what's more important is what work has actually been carried out, and if the van has been minded. people obsess on mileage as if it's the only important thing.

    ya but this van i was looking at seemed dodgy 55k miles ,2004 reg, rough enough inside.

    some vans may be driven in small estate, ... place where i am working, jeep/van ... 04, has just about 45k miles, ... genuine miles, but so sh1tty condition, ... if wouldnt look on meter, i would give over 300 k miles :D

    suggest bring over to garage for inspection, better to some indie one, they wouldn't rob ye, .... id say 50 -70 quid, if computer connected.
