Waking up the legs

    Hey all,

Wondering if there is a bit of wisdom out there to solve the problem of stiff legs at the start of a spin. Have always found that the first 10/15km are tough with a heavy feeling in the quads. Feel a burn in them for this first part of spin and can be quite sore, particularly lower quad above the knee, if pushing it at all or trying to keep up with a group. Tends to settle after a while in spin and happy to bomb along. I think it is worse for me comparing with other cyclists I talk to.

Thinking of doing my spin to work a couple of times a week on the bike which would be about the 16km mark. However, the thought of getting up and suffering through every morning just isn't appealing. Any suggestions on what can be done to help?

    Regards,
    Conan

Maybe just the the normal stretches for that muscle group might help get past the cold stage, hate that cold few km in the morning so keep the cadence high.

I am the same. I reckon it takes me about 15 - 20 mns to 'wake the legs'. As said above I try and keep a high-ish cadence for the 1st 10 mns then into the big ring and up around the 18,19 21 at the back.
