Would like to move home, wrong qualifications

I am currently living and working in Dublin as a Credit Risk Analyst for over two years for a financial institution. I have a 1st class honours degree in Economics & History and a 2.1 Masters in Economics. In Dublin, I am lucky enough to have a wealth of jobs available to me, as my skills are in high demand here. However, I don't want to live here, I would rather move home to Cork City, if given the chance. I keep looking on jobs sites, and I see nothing that fits my skill set, since most financial services are located in Dublin. So I seem to be faced with living somewhere I don't want to and having a career, or moving home and starting from scratch, maybe trying a new career.

Has anyone faced a similar dilemma?

Last time I checked, Apple had a whole lot of Finance jobs advertised in Cork - something there might suit you?

I looked, nothing there now anyway.

They have had absolutely tonnes of positions advertised in the past couple of weeks.

Definitely send in a CV and a very good cover letter. I'd say it would be well worth your while - even if all the positions are filled, chances are there won't be a 100% success rate, and they'll end up needing to replace a couple of candidates. Would be a good time to get your CV in, before this happens.

You mean just mail one in? I can't find an email, other than registering on their site, which I did.

 All I'm saying is that there are jobs there.

It's entirely up to yourself how resourceful you can be, in getting yourself into a position where you're sitting in front of the relevant people.

Best of luck in your search.

OP: one suggestion is to work in software industry in Cork area - there are several companies there which can potentially hire people with your qualification. I suggest while you're in Dublin, go to some forthcoming careers fairs and research about software industry in Cork
