    Hi All,

I am new to this forum and found this forum very helpful. I have searched other posts related to my question on this forum but unfortunately there are no detailed information regarding my issue.
So here are my details and question:

I am an Indian citizen happily married to an EU citizen and about to finish my Internship from Hungary. After I graduate, we plan to move to Ireland cloversmile.gif to start my career as a doctor. As I am a family member of EU national, i fall into the same category as an EU national would.

I have checked HSE website, Ireland cloversmile.gif and couldn't find any job at the moment for junior doctors.
My question is whether I can apply job as Training Specialist division or as an S.H.O.?confused.gif

Also, how long can it take to register with Irish Medical Council (IMC) and approximate time to find a job?confused.gif

Maybe someone who recently moved to Ireland can guide me through this. I will be highly grateful to you all. smile.gif
    GOD BLESS!

    Hi All,

If you are not a citizen of your partners country I dont think you do exactly fall into the same category, I think you have freer access of travel but work visa regulations will apply

When you graduate you may be eligible for FULL registration which means you skip intern year here and apply for SHO (non training) or Basic specialist training jobs

    Your problem will be
    • Applying for a job with no work experience
    • Applying for job with EU qualification but not an EU citizen meaning jobs have to be offered to citizens first before you
    • You have not qaulified from a medical school here and thus are an unknown quantity, no one knows you or has experience of your knowledge/skill sets

This has become a lot tighter in recent years because there are large numbers graduating from medical schools here now

I have checked HSE website, Ireland cloversmile.gif and couldn't find any job at the moment for junior doctors.
My question is whether I can apply job as Training Specialist division or as an S.H.O.?confused.gif

see above, jobs generally advertised around now for January and early January for July, there are very few jobs which come up outside of those time frames.

Also, how long can it take to register with Irish Medical Council (IMC) and approximate time to find a job?confused.gif

Maybe someone who recently moved to Ireland can guide me through this. I will be highly grateful to you all. smile.gif

The medical council process can take some time, if you are coming here you will not be considered for a job if you are not already on the medical register

hat should be your first step but that is expensive and no guarantee of a job

Thanks a million Drzhivago. I appreciate your help and the useful information.

I think it will be easier to apply as Basic specialist training job as compared to S.H.O. What do you think?

I understand since I am not an EU citizen it will be hard for me to get a job sooner and I must register with Irish Medical council (IMC) first.

Do you know how long can it take to register up with IMC? I have seen their website but i can see only their fees.

I am little worried because as you said the job offers are advertised mostly in July and January only. I will graduate in June 2013. Do you think its possible that I can apply for jobs while i am getting registered with the IMC?

Since you're already there, can you please suggest me what can I do now to have a job next year by July-September 2013 period?

The jobs are going to be advertised in January 2013, can I apply during this time and explain them that I am still doing my internship and will be finally graduated in June 2013 and start working in Ireland from July 2013?

    I am stressed about this.

Your valuable suggestions and help will mean a lot to me.
    God Bless You doctor!
