I'm travelling to the USA through Mexico.

I'm connecting into Vegas through North Carolina. Do I pass through Immigration in North Carolina or Vegas?

First port of entry, so North Carolina.

Even though I'm likely staying Airside?

If so then that's good because NC will be much quieter than Las Vegas.(Most likely)

There aren't "airside" connections as such in the US. All international travelers must clear immigration and customs at their first point of entry. Exceptions to this are airports like Dublin which have US immigration facilities where Dublin becomes your point of entry.

Thanks but I'm going through Gatwick on the outbound so missing out on the handy pre clearance in Shannon and Dublin. I have always travelled direct to the US but getting to Mexico is easier through the UK.

Let's hope I have enough time to clear Immigration in North Carolina so. :)

Roughly 1.5 - 2 hours should suffice. Also, keep in mind you will have to pick up your baggage while there.

God damn USA. I forgot about having to pick up my bags as well. Forgot about that as when I normally visit the USA(not as often as I'd like) there are never any connections so I just pick up my bags and leave.

Oh well, my outgoing flight is US Air and my incoming flight is also US Air and the airport isn't very big so hopefully quieter than most larger cities.

NC is in the southern US so might be no harm to address everyone in uniform as 'Sir' or 'Ma'am'.
