Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Im contemplating getting the white freesat card from sky, does it offer much of a benefit though? If i pick up a second hand Sky HD box will it work on it?

If you're used to Sky and already have a box then the White FTV cards are a good idea, bad thing is the over saturated EPG. You will also receive a few more channels than Freesat, namely Channel 5HD, Motors TV, LFC TV, VIVA and the Sony channels.

Some of the new Freesat boxes coming out look very well spec'ed with talk of an integrated Netflix and the new Freetime feature.

If cost is an issue then the Sky HD box and FTV card are a cheap option costing you around €50 for the box and €25 for the card.

Hi, gtg60, I rang Setanta for the FTV card, it arrived this morning, I can't test it for another couple of days as the old Sky box here is faulty, however should I ring Sky to get the card paired to get the extra channels you mentioned above or just simply insert the card in to a Sky+HD box and leave it at that? I have never used a Sky box before so I am reluctant to ring up and maybe lose those channels, Thanks. :)

You can overcome the activating by inserting the card in a Sky box and leave it there for 24 hrs. It should activate & update automatically, overnight usually. I did that with my card in a Sky+ box, and it worked.

The Setanta 'FTV' cards aren't true FTV cards because they don't give you all the FTV channels (I mentioned) or put all the FTA channels.

It's only merit is that if it remains unactivated it will put the UK EPG on your Sky HD box instead of the Irish one.

With a brand new card from Setanta, are you sure?

The Freesat from Sky cards are the property of Sky and you can't sell them to third parties. In addition they are not distributed in ROI anyway. So discussion of this is not allowed. As for the Setanta FTV cards there are more threads than I care for to discuss them already.
