audi 80 avant tdi lumpy idle

    last thursday night i drove to galway, no problems, stayed over, came out the next morning and the car started fine but the idle was lumpy, on take of it felt like it was missing until it got over 2k revs, then was fine, after 5mins of this it was fine altogether, and it hasn't done this before. drove it until today with no problems and went out to the car today, started it and the same story all over again.
    anyone any ideas? car was serviced over a month ago with new fuel filter etc but have had over a months driving so its hardly that.
    any ideas anyone?

    probably fuel pump, I've had plenty of these cars and tried everything from maf sensor to 3rd injector but if it is hunting at low revs while idling it's more than likely a fuel pump, common problem. I've never actually replaced one in an 80, I had one car I bought in Wolverhampton that I drove for 4 years like that and sold it, still going I think, never bothered me but it was a sight at traffic lights!
