Seagull locked in shopping centre

I spent a couple of hours in Belfast yestarday and went for lunch to Victoria square. For those who are not familiar with the place, it has a dome made of glass at the top.

Somehow a seagull made it into the dome and when I saw it it was picking the glass trying to get out. It looked healthy but a bit distressed and tired. Also the bird did not have access to food or water while inside.

I told the lady who looks after the dome but she did not seem to care much, so I reported this to other security staff on a different floor.

I had to catch the train back so I left and I dont know what the outcome was.

By the reaction of the two staff memebers, I did not get the feel that this was a normal occurrence.

For future reference, should anything else have been done?

I dont think so. It will have been difficult to catch it until it got too tired to fly from being chased

Attempting to catch it could've caused serious stress to the bird which could've resulted in the bird flying into glass and good few times and injuring itself
Best to leave it find it's own way out

Thanks - I was thinking yesterday more along the lines of offering the bird alternative routes to escape by opening doors, windows, etc
