Pretty dumb question but I'll ask anyway - are there any mechanics open on a Sunday? - need to get a car I'm buying privately checked over tomorrow - I'm clueless as to what goes on under the bonnet.

I can't talk considering my last "mechanic" thread got no responses..but there's a human factor here...most mechanics arent open on a Sunday but many will do business if you know them personally.

Obvioulsy you dont know someone personally that can do it...so...Have you considered ringing your insurance company breakdown service and trying to get someone from there? Might be a starting point.:)

How would that work? The 24 hr breakdown chap turns up and I say - "my car's grand, do you want to do a nixer?"

No..More like ...do yo u have contact numbers of mechanics in my area?
I've used that method in the past to locate a mechanic to repair my car...but not to complete an assessment of a purchase...but it could be a start.
