Fait accompli on Monday - Story? - WHAT story ? :D:D

You need to understand the process. Both Electric Ireland and Bord gais have REGULATED pricing. They apply once a year to have prices lowered / increased based on their costs. The regualtor goes though their explanation and decides the level of increase / decrease (Bord gais looked for more) .

The findings are always announced on 1st week september for both companies.

Gas is probably the biggest source of fuel for EI so if it's costing BG more, the chances are it's costing EI more too so this increase is inevitable really
