Buying a new guitar (Electric)

    Hey!

So the time has finally come when that original guitar you thought was great starts falling apart :(

My current guitar is an Ibanez not sure of the make or model but I'm thinking of getting a new guitar and I'm not extremely knowledgeable in this area.

I've been playing a while and would like to think I'm somewhat decent. I want to play lots of various styles, lead & rhythm and would definitely be wanting a whammy bar. I like the action to be quite low too.

Other than these things what else (besides a good sound) is important while looking for a guitar?

And if anyone could recommend any guitars or even any Ibanez guitars that would be great too.

My budget is kind of unknown at the moment but for the time being I'll say about €500

    Thanks!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvrVLVT8nBQ This video is the exact truth on how to go about buying a new guitar if you're not extremely knowledgeable in this area.

I have an Ibanez RG myself that I got bored of very quickly. Replaced it with a standard Epiphone Les Paul a few months later and i love it to bits. No Wammy Bar but it has a beast of a tone.

This is the thanks button: post_thanks.gif
It's at the bottom-right of most posts on Boards.

are we thinking about the same xmusic here?

It really depends on what kind of music you yourself want to play. Ibanez are really nice but sometime their pups let them down. If you go that route might want to stick a few duncans in maybe. Can't really go wrong with a telecaster for any type of music. you can get a good tele for about 500 but a really good one for about 600/700? But at the end of the day get something that suits your style of music and they way you play.

    Hope this helps

I assume he like me was was puzzled with the description, "LOT of Ibanez guitars", because anytime I was in there, even when it was bigger they only had a handful.
