HSE registrar jurisdiction

I've a really dumb question and have been looking to no avail on the HSE website so thought I'd ask here - if you have a civil ceremony in a particular county can any registrar perform it or must they be from that county? Our new fave venue happens to be in a neighbouring county so if we end up booking it is it essential to get a registrar from there to perform it?

Also anyone know approx what sort of expenses/mileage they charge anyway? We were originally going to have a reg office ceremony so havent considered those costs

AFAIK, any HSE registered solemniser can perform weddings within Ireland. If they're not local, then I think mileage/travel expenses can be charged, but am not sure if there are standard charges of if the registrar can charge their own.

Your best bet is to check with the HSE direct.

It depends on the county, some will require you to be resident for a few weeks before.
