    Anyone here done this?

Need to pick from Graphics & Image Processing, Human Computer Interaction, Systems Approach and Artificial Intelligence for Semester 1, and Technical Writing, Multimedia Dev, and Computer Communications for Sem 2. It looks like it's asking me to decide on both semesters' optionals during registration which is a bit lame.

Anyway what's the story with the modules, how are they assessed etc? Systems Approach, Computer Comms and Tech Writing sound dire. AI sounds quite interesting.

Does it matter which you choose in terms of your degree/future employment (LOL right?) or should I just pick the ones I'll do best at?

I'm in the same boat at the moment and it seems like we have to pick for both semesters. Which is silly. Hopefully someone will confirm it.

I'm going to go along to some more of the lectures this week because I haven't a clue which one to pick. I wanted to try Graphics & Image Processing for semester 1 but I felt like running out of the lecture. Seems like the human-computer interaction one is popular but it clashes with my other subject unfortunately.

You can change your mind for second semester in second semester, don't worry about that.

AI is a good option - quite interesting.

A bunch of us decided to take 2 optionals in first semester so we could concentrate on the project in semester 2. Its very doable if you make the right choices - I did AI and Systems Approach, both of which I found very interesting. Systems Approach is essentially computer modeling.

If you don't want to go down that route, Technical Writing seemed like a good choice for Semester 2 - I didn't do it, but I think it is continuous assessment.
