Does it 100% need to be re-programmed?
I had my battery out of my E60 once or twice and just put it back in and all fine????

apparenly so,Its the original battery and the ecu has to be told its a new one(something to do with the way the altenator charges the battery as it ages) its been in for for the battery cable factory recall with no issues reported...

I never programmed my new battery. I had issues alright with the ecu thinking the old knackered battery was still present but I just unplugged the ibs.

my recommendations are tom courtney motors and scully auto care in that order. I had the same issue and a similar experience. stealers tried to fleece me for 320e, scully helped but didn't completely fix and TCM sorted it out. having said that, scully had the best customer service of the lot.

Cheers for that, hopefully someone might still recommend a cork(munster) based company otherwise it will be a spin to dublin for me:-) ,in fact i could probably drive to germany for what bmw charge...

Just got a recall notification today for my 2006 about the battery. Maybe you could swindle it under that if it hasnt been recalled yet...

I think rebel.ranter is down your way, he knows much about these things. Hopefully he'll be along soon enough to give you some advice.

Hey, I can register your battery for you. Just order the correct battery for the car from the motor factors.
Here's a link to the 6 potential batteries that your car could have, so have a look to see what Ah you have & whether it is AGM or not.

If it has an AGM battery & you want to fit a regular battery (or vice versa) I can code that too.

Did they tell you which type of battery they were going to supply? I'm in Cork BTW.
