Hi all,just an update on the Setanta FTA cards discussion.I applied for one last week and received it this week.Activated in friends Sky box and worked great in my Dreambox 7020s.Sony Movies,Sony TV and a German sports channel.(BTW I told the Setanta Rep that I was going to use the card in a Dreambox as an experiment.)

True ..... but that is Setanta's terminology ..... although it is truly FTV ....

What are the tuning details for the German Sports channel?

We have been watching US Open on German Eurosport. Sky box no use for it.

Yes we do, but this is a place for the general public to get info, it will show in future searches and could cause confusion. The FTA/FTV card is even referring to a completely different thread

Sorry I should have mentioned the original piece was 5 or 6 pages back.Its a promotion thing by Setanta.The German sports is dubbed into English and Motors UK is also available.:)

Hi, I just got mine earlier today but the old sky box here is faulty, I have to wait until Wednesday to get a new one. Did you have to ring Sky to activate the card in your friends Sky box or just simply insert the card? Thanks.

I would like to tune in this German sports station but do not know the tuning details ...... can you supply them?

I rang Setanta to get the card activated, for the Sound and Vision programmes.
It was activated in a Sky box.

can you activate this card on a non-sky box.....i havent got access to one very handy at present (card ordered and arriving this week)

Ok the original topic is on page 5 (27/08/2012)started by Smokey 32.The Setanta contact info is there.You have to ring a premium no.in Scotland to activate the card.Its Setanta not Sky(even though its a Sky card you receive)The German sports channel I dont know the name(I havent watched it much)

I had to download ccams readers onto The Dreambox to read the card.I dont know if other boxes have ccam slots.The Dreambox is a wonderfully versatile piece of equipment I"ve had it for years and apart for the odd hang up,its never let me down(I fitted an old HDD in it for recording)the timer is ace.

I already have a Setanta FTV card which is activated and in use.

My only interest is in finding out some information about this German channel

My God Guys, what do we have to do exactly after we receive the card in order to get Motors Tv Sony Movies, Sony TV, the German Sports Channel and the Setanta FTA programmes etc please? Be precise for everyone who is interested in getting a card and who has one already. Do we ring Setanta in Scotland after we get the card or just insert the card and wait? IF we have to ring them then what is the number please? This will help everyone if someone sends a sensible reply and we can get all of the possible channels with the card. Thank you readers.

Don't ring Setanta,simply put the card in the box & leave it there.
However mine doesn't clear Sony TV on a Pace HD box

Setanta FTA programmes are available with an expired Irish card also.

I already had to ring them in to receive the card, I spoke to a Scottish guy, cost me nearly a fiver in credit from the mobile, total rip off, he hadn't a clue about the card and put me on hold for two minutes at least. :rolleyes: Can anyone confirm what zerks has posted above please? I shouldn't ring them after I get my secondhand Amstrad Sky+ HD box, I should just insert the card? Will it not expire after a month and I'd be forced to ring Setanta to pair it? I want to make sure to use this card correctly in order to get the Sony channels and any extra others available free. I don't want to be shocked and disappointed.

I received the card after using email to request it.

I followed the instructions that came with the card .... to ring a number to get the card activated.

To have the card clear the likes of the Sony channels it will have to be activated in a Sky box.

After it is actives the same channels are cleared regardless of box it is used in ...... in my experience.

Setanta have told me I can use it in any STB I wish.

Hi, i received a setanta white sky card also and am just wondering, if you activate it with setanta can you view the rte, tv3, irish channels with it or do you need a subscription to do that? thanks

RTÉ, TV3, TG4, 3e, UTV Ireland all require an Irish subscription to Sky.

Setanta is NOT FTA.

They are a PAY TV channel, thieving money from the S&V scheme, using their so called "FTV" card as a puppy dog routine to sell Pay TV subscriptions. They are using the Sky Pay TV platform.

Real FTA TV on Satellite doesn't need a card or a Sky box.

Since all the ex-Analogue main UK broadcasters FTA on Terrestrial moved to Freesat, Sky's so called Freesat-from-Sky card is practically a scam too. It's a way to keep sky boxes in peoples homes (in UK) and encourage pay TV take up.
