Foot pain. Help!

    HI all, not certain if this is the right place to post this? However;

    I suffer from terrible foot pain, most especially the left foot, when I run. I've had this problem for years! It's most probally my arches. Allthough the arches look ok and have'nt fallen. The pain usually starts early into my run and I would normally have to stop a few times early in the run. As my feet 'warm up' the pain lessens and allmost goes away. However as you can imagine it is affecting my training. My Father (RIP) had fallen arches, and I suspect I may be inheriting the same problem.

    My question is what can I do about this? I have a really good set of running shoes. Top shoes. I wear padded socks to mininise shock.

    Are insoles recommended to support the arch?
    Are there specific exercises I can do to strengthen my arches?
    I realise there are a lots of people advertising different types of arch supports et cetera but are they really any good and if so can anyone recommend anyone or a type of arch support?
    Should I get gait analysis carried out or is it really helpfull?
    Should I go to a Sports Injury clinic etc?

    ANY insight/information anyone here could provide would really help,

    Kind regards,

    DM

    Unfortunately this is in breach of our charter:
    We do not give out medical advice. Injuries may have common symptoms but are unique to the individual - just because you were able to keep training with X injury or were out for months because of Y doesn't mean that the same will apply to someone else. Bad advice given here and followed through could aggravate an injury and prevent an athlete making a full recovery in as rapid a time as possible. This restriction is Boards-wide and purposely heavy-handed. So don't feel offended if your thread about a sprained ankle (which you may deem "non-medical") gets locked.

    Mod:My advice would be to go seek professional advice. I will leave the thread open for Physio/Sports Therapist recommendations but giving medical advice is banned so please refrain from it anyone
