Failed Drive

So I recently built a computer for my friend and within one month of it being built I suspect that the hard drive has failed. The BIOS on the computer fails to detect the drive and when I plug it in through USB to my own computer Windows says that “The drive must be initialized before use” and then proceeds with “The device is not ready”. Ubuntu also fails to detect it. I did some searching online and found that the drive (Seagate Barracuda 1TB) is prone to failing.
Has the drive failed and how would I go about RMAing it to hardwareversand?

    Many thanks,
    Jak/mar
